Can I use heat on a synthetic wig?

Most of the time you do not use heat on a synthetic wig. Heat can ruin a synthetic wig, especially if you have an expensive one. If you have a cheap synthetic wig, you could put some heat on it once in a blue moon. Synthetic wigs are different from human hair wigs. Human hair wigs can be styled using a heat setting of up to 410 degrees Fahrenheit; however, we recommend our customers use a heat setting of 320 or less to avoid damaging your wig. Synthetic fiber wigs can be damaged by heat and must not exceed 140 degrees.

Then, use a flat iron to heat up the wig hair from the roots down to your ends. Once you've added some body to the hair by sliding it between two flat irons, spray more dry shampoo so that the curls have some texture.

The time it takes for your wig to absorb the fabric softener will depend on the material of the wig itself, as well allows desired texture.
